Tempted

Tempted - Megan Hart Looking for a happily ever after? A sweet romance? A fun three-some romp that helps strengthen a marriage? (Umm, I had to throw this in because you do realize that this book centers around a threesome -- hint, take a look at the cover). Well, Tempted is not any of those things. Tempted is my first novel by [a:Megan Hart|306449|Megan Hart|http://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1264391380p2/306449.jpg]. And I understand readers either love her books or are lukewarm about them. I tend to like romance only if the characters are well-written, the main characters face a relationship struggle and some dark topic is addressed. shrugs I also am partial to the questioning of monogamy or typical relationship patterns. Now, if a writer is able to somehow create the setting of the book in a house on a lake -- then I am a fan. So it is fair to say I enjoyed the set-up of Tempted. Starting this book, I was worried that Hart would make the threesome just a fun romp. Or that she would make the personal relationships between the three characters shallow and not well developed. Hart does none of this. The book starts off showing the strength of the marriage between two of the main characters with hints about Alex, the soon to be addition to their relationship. The beginning of the book is rough and not easy to get into. Eventually though, Hart hits her stride and the friendship and dialogue between the sisters of the main character (Anne) and between Anne, James (the husband) and Alex. I absolutely loved the side stories about the sisters and would love if Hart wrote books focusing on their characters. These are sisters who fight, disagree, but love each other. Sisters with who have debt, problem husbands and disappointing relationships. Sisters who need each other. The introduction of Alex into James's and Anne's marital bed is not easy, it is not smooth and is not problem free. James is not the perfect husband and Anne is far from the perfect wife. Surprisingly, I found myself skimming the sex scenes and more interested in the relationships of the characters. So, before I spoil this book I will end this review. I definitely plan on reading more by Hart. I listened to the audio of this book. I would say the audio is just okay and I likely would have preferred reading the book.
